One Foot Bigger Than the Other? What to Do
One foot bigger than the other is normal. Measure both feet, use the larger numbers and buy shoes that fit the bigger foot.

Your child’s feet gave you 2 different numbers. That is normal: most children have one foot a little longer or wider than the other.
How to measure
Measure each foot on a foot gauge. Write down both lengths and both widths.
Which numbers to use
Use the larger length and the larger width, even if they come from different feet. Enter those 2 numbers into the size calculator. Buy for the bigger foot, then tighten the fastenings on the smaller one.
Making the smaller foot comfortable
- Pick styles with adjustable straps or laces
- Watch your child walk and check that the heel stays in place on the smaller foot
- Ask a fitter about insoles if you see a gap
When to get advice
A small difference needs no action. Talk to your GP or a podiatrist if the gap is large, grows between measurements or your child complains of pain.
