Sizes are a guide. Board shape and rocker change how a board rides as much as length.
Board size is about float and control. A larger board planes earlier, holds an edge in light wind and is more forgiving to learn on. A smaller board is lighter and looser, better for jumps and tricks in strong wind. Your weight sets the starting point.

How to choose a kiteboard
Weight first. Step through it.
Start with weight
Sets the base length.
Width matters as much as length. A wider board floats more without being harder to turn.
Twin tip, surfboard or foil
Three ways to ride. Compare them.
Rides both ways. Easiest to learn on.
Directional, for waves and carving.
Lifts above the water. Rides in very light wind.
Most riders learn on a twin tip, then add a surfboard for waves or a foil for light wind.
