Each tier is assumed about 4 in tall, which is the usual height for wedding and party cakes.
Cake servings depend on the top area and the slice size. Wedding slices are 1 × 2 in, party slices about 1.5 × 2 in. A 10 in round cake gives about 39 wedding slices or 26 party slices. For 100 guests at a wedding, one 16 in round just covers it, or tiers of 12, 10 and 6 in give a little more.
