A tuxedo jacket size is your chest in inches plus a length letter. Measure round the fullest part of the chest under the arms. A 40 in chest at 5 ft 10 is a 40R. Regular-fit tuxedos come with trousers 6 inches smaller, so a 40R pairs with 34 in trousers unless you give your own waist.
