7 Signs Your Child's Shoes Are Too Small
Kids rarely say when shoes pinch. Watch for these signs that it's time to measure again.

Children rarely mention tight shoes. Watch for these 7 signs instead.
1. Red marks or blisters
Check your child’s feet after a day out. Red patches on the toes, heels or sides mean the shoe rubs.
2. Toes at the front
Press on the front of the shoe while your child stands. No space beyond the longest toe means the shoes are too short.
3. Shoes off at every chance
A child who kicks their shoes off the moment they get home, or in the car, may find them uncomfortable.
4. Unusual wear
Holes at the big toe, or a heel counter pushed flat, point to a poor fit.
5. A change in walking
Extra trips, tiptoe walking or a new gait can mean the shoes are tight.
6. Fastenings that won’t close
Straps or laces that no longer reach tell you the foot has grown wider.
7. Three months since the last check
Measure again if your last check was more than 3 months ago. See our measuring schedule.
What to do next
Measure both feet with a foot gauge, enter the larger numbers into the size calculator and compare the result with their current size.
